He Ara Ahumahi - Seeking the next generation of East Coast scientists, researchers, growers, communicators, and entrepreneurs
Rua Bioscience has just announced its inaugural Internship programme and is seeking two people to join its 30-strong team with both a winter and summer internship.
Rua Bioscience CEO, Rob Mitchell, says He Ara Ahumahi (An Industry Pathway), is a key component of the company’s commitment to creating employment opportunities in Te Tairāwhiti, this time by inspiring the next generation of East Coast scientists, researchers, communicators, and entrepreneurs.
“Positive social and economic impact is part of Rua’s DNA. We recruit extraordinary people who embody our kaupapa and relish the idea of sharing their expertise. So, as a team, we’re excited about opening this opportunity and welcoming emerging local talent into the company,” Mr Mitchell says.
Each year, Rua will offer internships across key areas of its business. The first cultivation internship is an exciting opportunity to work with our Ruatorea-based team, learning what it takes to grow pharmaceutical-grade medicinal cannabis from the ground up. The second will be a summer internship, further details are to be released soon.
He Ara Ahumahi is a key component of Rua’s Community Capability Development Programme, funded in part by Trust Tairāwhiti.
“The Trust is proud to support these internships that provide poutama for hardworking Māori rangatahi to pursue their academic goals in STEM vocational areas. The intent of the internships aligns with the Trust’s wellbeing framework, He Rangitapu He Tohu Ora, and delivers on Trust aspirations to have more rewarding career pathways. It helps build diversity and resilience of our regional economy,” says Trust Tairawhiti CEO, Gavin Murphy.
Applications for the cultivation internship close on 20th May 2022 and the role starts in June. The terms of the cultivation internship are flexible but will be based on a fixed-term, full-time role for 12 weeks.
